Italian and German are artificial languages

Linguas franca like Spanish or French come from a particular region which have expanded to occupy one or more entire countries. But that is not the case for Italian and German, which are languages of artificial origin.

Before the unification of Italy and Germany in the nineteenth century, almost no one spoke any natively lingua franca, it used to be spoken by only educated people and in public affairs, the people of each region or state had its own language that used to be called dialect, but which were clearly separate languages, as there were communication problems between these varieties.

Italian is prepared by some scholars of the Academy of Crusca, is based on the Florentine dialect of Tuscan and still there are differences.

German is based on Eastern Franconian and High Saxon.

It is OK that these linguas franca are spoken to understand, but regional languages shall be also respected and to be recognized as such.
